Device Manager shows Absorbance 96 under "Other devices" with a warning icon.
Solution: Right-click the device, select "Update driver". Click "Search automatically", then "Search on Windows Update". The Windows Update app appears and may or may not show an update being installed, but the updated driver should get installed either way. After maybe a minute or so the Device Manager should update and show a "USB Serial Port" under "Ports" and the app should be able to control the device.
