# Cleaning the inside of a dirty device

## Cleaning the inside of the device

We recommend cleaning the device with a cloth and 70% ethanol, if available. 

 

Spilled device\* or Forgotten microplate inside\*

If that doesn’t work, it may be the case that the spills have corroded the protective film, in which case further cleaning will not help. 

\*If the condensation has penetrated the film, chances are the optical unit has been exposed to liquid and may need to be replaced.
